Thank You for Volunteering
~ Fountain Valley Little League is run completely by volunteers ~
~ By giving your time and energy you help FVLL thrive ~
The following information is what is needed to be a volunteer both legally and safely for the 2023 season.
1. All volunteers need to get registered ASAP on the FVLL website for any positions being volunteered for fvlittleleague.com
2. All volunteers need to complete the JDP background check through Little League International Volunteer Registration
3. Volunteers that will be putting in at least 32 hours during 2022 (including all Managers, Coaches, Team Parents, and many Umpires, Scorekeepers, Field Maintenance Volunteers, and Snack Bar Volunteers) need to have an up-to-date LiveScan and a supplemental child abuse and neglect training. LiveScan through FVLL will take place during tryouts, and opening days events. Child Abuse and Neglect Training for volunteers can be completed free of charge and download a completion certificate at: CA Mandated Reporter Training for Volunteers
4. All managers and coaches are required to complete online CDC Concussion Training free of charge and download a completion certificate. Other volunteers can do this as well, but it is not required. CDC HeadsUp Concussion Training
5. All managers and coaches are required to complete online Cardiac Arrest Training training free of charge and download a completion certificate. Other volunteers can do this as well, but it is not required. Cardiac Arrest Training
6. All managers and coaches are required to complete online Abuse Awareness for Adults Training training free of charge and download a completion certificate. USA Baseball Abuse Awareness for Adults
The above steps are required to keep FVLL in compliance with both Little League International and California law.
Effective January 1, 2022, per California AB 506, 2 persons who have completed both a Live Scan and child abuse and neglect reporting training to be present while conducting any FVLL activities with youth.
A single volunteer cannot be alone with players at any time while performing FVLL volunteering duties. This includes the beginning or end of practice or individual coaching sessions.
Please be advised that Fountain Valley Little League obtains criminal background checks for all volunteer managers, coaches, board members, assistant coaches, umpires and any other persons, volunteers and/or hired workers who provide regular services to or who have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams.
The background checks are done through First Advantage and the results include state and federal criminal arrest records, and registered sex offender information. JDP.com does not provide notification of subsequent arrest after the background check is completed, therefore background checks are completed annually. For additional information about Fountain Valley Little League's background check policy, please contact Fountain Valley Little League. Additional information on Little League Background checks can also be found at www.littleleague.org
Pursuant to California State Law, Article 3 (commencing with Section 11100) of Chapter 1 of Title 1 of Part 4 of the Penal Code, criminal history information is used internally. Confidential criminal history information is not disclosed to the public.
